Failed!

Well, all those good intentions have somewhat gone a bit wrong after just a couple of weeks. I've hurt my leg so have had to stop running for a few days couple of weeks, the blogposts certainly haven't been coming thick and fast and I'm even slipping on the reading (to keep up with that I'm going to have to finish a 250 page, small typeface book in 4 days (Ain't gonna happen Didn’t happen).
I’ve been eating some crap too, enough to keep my weight stable rather than drop. On the face of it this seems like a complete failure – I couldn’t even last a month. But in reality there are a few factors which have impacted this and some positives to take out of it.
Firstly I have started not just one but two educational courses this year. First up the more pleasurable Wines Spirits Education Trust level 3 at the West London Wine school. We took WSET level 2 a couple of years ago at the WSET headquarters. This was quite a dry affair with lots of industry wine students. This time however we have opted for Jimmy Smith’s more personal and relaxed West London Wine School. Hosted in the basement of the Big Yellow storage Company, this is proving to be a much better option with a chatty style of learning. Plenty of reading to be done however.
The second course I’m doing is the Communicating science in the information age module for my OU masters. Now this will be tough going. 16 hours a week of reading and exercises plus a fair amount of tutor assessed assignments. At least I get to watch a bit of TV alongside it, Brian Cox’s TED talk on the Large Hadron Collider today.
Work is also good. I’m recording, recording, recording and will now start the second habit from Zen habits which is Process. As I talked about in the previous post, this isn’t something I’ve done very well in the past. So I will be making sure I process at the end of each day. Starting tomorrow. Honestly. Process.
Tomorrow I’ll also be taking a trip to Sweatshop, the unfortunately named running shop where I hope they will assess my gait and tell me that my expensive running shoes are doing me no good and I need to buy an alternative set of expensive running shoes. Fingers crossed eh!
So I’m going to try to get back on track this week. There is no point in dwelling on the failed objectives. Only to reassess and make sure that I have the systems in place to prevent slipping again.
Here’s to next week
